pet information

Every pet owner wants more—more service, more quality, more information. The professionals at SPORTSVET Animal Medical Center understand this desire for more; we offer our pet owners the richest experience in veterinary service with the ultimate in personal support.

Information at Your Fingertips

The need for more information expands throughout the life of your animal companion. From puppy and kitten care to senior pet, the SPORTSVET team offers education, support, and guidance.

Our support continues through our online collection of articles and videos addressing an assortment of pet care concerns. There is something for every pet owner here:

  • The handouts—include a wide variety of pet care, health, and behavioral articles relating to your dog or cat. These articles cover such topics as traveling with your pet, dental care, common diseases, giving medications, introducing your pet to a new baby, and many more helpful topics.
  • The videos—include general pet topics such as allergies, pain management, pre-surgical lab work, and many more. There is also a selection of cat videos, including kitten basics and nutrition, and dog videos, including grooming, obedience training, hip dysplasia, and more.

Your SPORTSVET professionals are committed to providing you with the knowledge necessary to make educated decisions about health care for your pet.

Pet Loss Support

For that time when you face end-of-life concerns with a pet, we offer more:

  • Our pet loss library is a valuable resource for those who have lost an animal companion, as well as those anticipating the death of an aging or ill pet.  You will find answers to frequently asked questions about grieving, both before and after the death of your loyal companion. In addition, you will read stories about pets and their owners and have the opportunity to share your stories with others.

This resource is one that can be shared with the entire family and is intended as a tool to aid adults and children alike in the process of healing. Convenient online access allows all members of the family to explore their feelings in the privacy of your own home.

SportsVet Animal Medical Center was the best vet I have ever had. I live in Minneapolis now and not only are all of the vets very expensive, they do not really seem to care in the same way Dr. Jacobs did.

Nadine Frances Mercil

I’ve never seen a vet be so caring and compassionate to not only the animals, but the animals owners as well. We think so highly of Dr. Jacobs and his staff that we travel and hour and a half for all our vet needs.

Keri Robinson

SportsVet Animal Medical Center performed TPLO surgery on our 7 year old flat-coat retriever. We were very pleased with her care, Dr. Jacobs and his staff could not have been more thorough, professional, and friendly.

Vickie Hart

Thank you so much, Dr. Jacobs and staff, for helping little Duke regain use of his left leg (he suffered a grade 4 patellar luxation). We so appreciate your kind care, surgical skill and postop therapy.

Lila & Barry McCammon

Dr. Jacobs and his staff are AMAZING. Every time I called, which was often (multiple times a week), they were happy to speak with me. They even sent me video of her during her underwater treadmill therapy. 4.5 years later, while some of her other joints struggle, her knee is perfect.

Callie Cozzolino

Dixie had her TPLO surgery on Jan. 10th and went for her first water therapy yesterday. She is doing great. Getting stronger and using her leg more everyday. Everyone at SportsVet is soooo supportive and caring. Thank you again so much!!!!
